On Friday, all Dave had to do was make a lap in his heat race to become the official champion at Luxemburg Speedway. He would end up challenging for the lead in the feature that night, and he came home with a 2nd place finish and the track title.

On Saturday, Dave needed to have a good run to secure the title at Thunderhill, and he dominated the main event, taking the feature win and the track championship as well.

8/25/2008 - Feature Win #11 & 2008 Luxemburg Champion

Dave finally found himself back in victory lane on Saturday night, picking up his 11th feature win of the season.

On Friday night, he took home a top 5 finish and also clinched the points title at the Luxemburg Speedway. He is 32 points ahead of 2nd place, so all he needs to do is run his heat race and he will have an insurmountable points lead. Congratulations Dave!

8/17/2008 - 2nd @ Luxemburg

Dave had a chance at picking up his 11th feature win of the season, but was unable to track down eventual winner Tom Brumlic. Brumlic has now won 2 feature events in a row in the hobby stocks at Luxemburg.

8/10/2008 - 141 Results

Dave took to the asphalt for the 1st time in his IMCA hobby stock, and looked pretty smooth on the surface. He started on the outside pole for his heat, and was able to lead every lap with Marcus Moede breating down his neck at the end.

In the feature, he started on the pole, but was unable to keep the car on the bottom groove coming out of the corners, allowing Frank Paul to slide underneath. Dave would drop another spot and finish in 3rd place.

8/9/2008 - Special & Luxemburg Results

Dave shot into the lead on Wednesday night's special @ Thunderhill, but was taken out of the lead from behind. He was able to save it somehow, and still wound up with a 3rd place finish on the night.

On Friday, he took to the slick track at Luxemburg, and poked away at Marcus Moede for 3rd place for much of the race. He was able to capture 3rd on the final lap, by a few inches.

8/2/2008 - Weekend Results

On Friday Dave fought his way to the front, but when challenging George Paul for the lead, Paul made contact with Dave and sent him off of the track in turn 4. The ruling was both Paul and Dave had to go to the back of the field, and Dave made a strong charge back up into an 8th place finish.

On Saturday, he was running in 3rd place behind Jarred VanLaanen on the last lap, and was able to slide by VanLaanen after he spun coming off of turn 4 to take home a 2nd place finish.

7/27/2008 - Two Top 5's on the Weekend

Dave battled for much of the race on Friday with Jarred VanLaanen, and was unable to catch eventual race winner George Paul. He would finish the night in 3rd place.

At Thunderhill, Dave broke his ball joint in the heat race on the last lap, which placed him dead last on the grid for the feature. He manuvered his way all the way from 19th to another 3rd place finish on the weekend.

Dave is still the points leader at both Luxemburg and Thunderhill with those finishes.

7/20/2008 - Green Bay Press Gazette Article

Dave was featured in Joe Verdegan's weekly racing column in the Green Bay Press Gazette's Friday issue. Dave discusses the possibility of winning a national points title and how his future in racing may change starting next year.

7/13/2008 - 10 Feature Wins

Friday night Dave reeled in Scott Boulanger to capture his 9th feature win of the season, and went out on Saturday night and won his 10th feature, passing Robert Waechter, Jr. with 1 lap to go.

He is now atop the points at both Luxemburg and Thunderhill.

7/9/2008 - Winner @ Thunderhill

Dave passed Scott Boulanger for the lead and weaved his way through lapped traffic to secure his 4th feature win of the season @ Thunderhill. It is Dave's 8th feature win overall on the year.

7/5/2008 - Badger State Showdown Results

Thursday @ Luxemburg, Dave had a rough go, as he tangled with Rob Waechter, Jr. and got the worst end of it. Dave was sent off the track and into the frontstretch wall, causing a lot of damage and ending his night.

On Friday, Dave finally ran the new car, although not by choice. Fixing the other car would have taken too long, so it was an easy decision. He held his own at the front of the feature, but it didn't quite have the power or grip he was used to, and that allowed Marcus Moede to capture the victory. Dave settled for 2nd, so his points lead is still safe.

6/30/2008 - The Streak is Broken

Dave charged to the front of the feature on Friday @ Luxemburg, but the event went without a caution, so leader Marcus Moede was too far out for Dave to catch. He would settle for 3rd place on the night, maintaining his point lead.

Saturday @ Thunderhill he wasn't so lucky. He and Moede went 3-wide with Jeff Lautenbach in the middle, but Lautenbach and Dave tangled, setting off a big fracas behind. Dave would be black-flagged for the incident, taking a big hit in points from 1st to 5th.

His streak of feature wins is finally over, he had at least 1 feature win every week until now. Don't know if any other IMCA driver can claim to have done the same.

Now Dave heads off to Marshalltown for the Shootout. I should have some updates from Dave during the week.

6/16/2008 - Two in a Row @ Thunderhill

Dan Lewis Photo

DeGrave took his 7th feature win of the season (3rd @ Thunderhill) on Saturday night. He took the lead from Marcus Moede and weaved his way through some heavy lapped traffic to take the checkers. Dave is the current point leader at both tracks.

6/2/2008 - Another Win @ Thunderhill

Dan Lewis Photo

Dave took advantage of a caution and made the 3 wide pass by Frank Paul and Aaron Zellner to take the lead and the feature win on Saturday night. It's Dave's 2nd feature win @ Thunderhill and 6th overall.

At Luxemburg, Dave was involved in a multi car accident and was sent to the back of the field. He drove the car from the back into a 7th place finish on the night.

With the win on Saturday, he is now 1st in points at both tracks.

5/26/2008 - 4 For 4 @ Luxemburg

Dan Lewis Photo

Dave battled with Scott Boulanger for the majority of the race on Friday night, and on the last lap he was able to get his nose past Boulanger to take the checkers. It is his 4th feature win @ Luxemburg, and 5th overall.

Saturday night Dave tried the high side on Brandon Peterson, but didn't have enough and fell behind Chad Kaminski into a 3rd place finish.

5/18/2008 - 4 In A Row… Then Trouble

Dave shot out like a rocket in Friday's feature @ Luxemburg Speedway. He raced up to 2nd, and slid underneath Scott Boulanger to take the lead. He wouldn't be contested going on to his 3rd straight win at Luxemburg, and 4th straight overall.

Saturday night Dave ran into his 1st trouble of the season. On the 1st lap, his tire went down, causing him to go several laps down to the rest of the field. He would return to the track, picking up positions vacated by driver's who had other troubles.

5/11/2008 - 3 In A Row For DeGrave

2008 couldn't be off to a better start for Dave, as he captured the opening night checkers at the Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday night.

Dave took the lead from Jarred VanLaanen on two occasions, and didn't relinquish the lead the second time he had it. He was able to cruise through lapped traffic en route to his 3rd feature victory on the season.

5/10/2008 - DeGrave Wins Again @ Luxemburg

After almost a month layoff between racing, Dave took home his 2nd victory of the season @ Luxemburg Speedway. Scott Boulanger took charge early in the race, building up a sizable lead. Dave had to come through the pack, and a mid-race caution wiped out Boulanger's lead with Dave restarting 2nd. It would only be a couple of laps before he would overtake the lead, and he was able to coast for the victory.

4/19/2008 - "The Hammer" Takes Opening Night Checkers

Dave decided to have teammate "Hooter" test his new car for the night, so he ran the '07 car on Friday night. The decision was the correct one, as his new car had fuel issues and Dave took home the 1st victory of the 2008 season. He started on the outside pole, and was challenged throughout the race by track champion Jesse Kanas. It was an eerie repeat of the last race of the '07 season at Luxemburg, but this time Dave took home the victory.

3/14/2008 - New Car/New Site Design

Dave's 2008 scheme is unveiled right here. He will be running in the IMCA Hobby Stock division again in 2008, this time to pursue a track championship that eluded him in 2007. The new lettering was done again this year by Woody's Signs, and that car looks pretty sharp again this year. Here's a few pictures, more will be added later.
